The Cantal volcano, a land of hiking par excellence, is crisscrossed by numerous hiking trails. It is also crossed by the GR® 4 which goes from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and the GR® 400 goes all around the Cantalian volcano. The latter allows you to roam the whole area over several days or make daily loops.

For more information on possible hikes, you can use our official application “Espace nature – Puy Mary” available on android and iOS to have your route with you at all times. You will also find the information on our website Espace Nature – Puy Mary.

If you prefer paper, our topo guide published with Chamina is available on our online shop and on our Site Houses.

By bike

Many cyclists tell us that our roads are beautiful and very pleasant for cycling.

If you want to go on the road, why not take inspiration from Pierre’s car-free getaways?

Thanks to his notebook, you will be able to enjoy a stay entirely by bike.

To move around and park with a motorised vehicle in complete peace of mind, please read the following information carefully.

The access roads to Pas de Peyrol (Puy Mary) are closed from 1ᵉʳ November to 1ᵉʳ May. In spring and autumn, please check our home page to make sure that the roads are not closed due to snowfall.

Access and parking at Pas de Peyrol is regulated. The roads are narrow and do not allow two camper vans to pass each other. For everyone’s safety, please respect the directions of traffic which are recalled on the access road to Le Puy Mary.

At Pas de Peyrol (Puy Mary), parking is only allowed in the car park provided for this purpose. Any parking on the lower sides of the car park is subject to a fine. Parking on the side of the road delays the arrival of first aid due to the narrowness of the access roads, do not unnecessarily put people’s lives at risk.

During the summer period, a contribution to the preservation of the site of 4€ is required for each parking lot. This sticker, payable once, allows you to come back as many times as you wish.

Furthermore, due to the high number of visitors to the site during the summer season, parking is not possible during the day for camper vans during this period at Pas de Peyrol.

On the rest of the Grand Site de France Puy Mary – Volcan du Cantal, please respect the parking rules in force in the communes.

For campervans, coaches and lorries weighing less than 9 tonnes, regulations are in place. Ascent and descent directions are established and must be respected according to the time of day and the period of the year. The same applies to parking instructions.

Motor-home owners, remember to use the discovery transport to move around the Grand Site de France Puy Mary – Volcan du Cantal territory in complete serenity.
