  JORDANNE VALLEY

The Mars valley, running out from the West side of Puy Mary, is deep and heavily wooded. From the Gorges de Saint Vincent de Salers, it widens into a U-shaped valley. This much gentler countryside features the characteristic bocage that can be found in most of the Pays du Puy Mary valleys.

Saint Vincent de Salers

This market town was built at the foot of a rocky escarpment.
Surrounded by basalt columns, discover the traditional architecture of this mountain village with its small stone bridge (Henry IV crossing the Mars), Roman church (listed monument), Chanterelle castle built in the modern era and whose rustic simplicity is typical of the region, as well as the small Château de la Borie from the Middle Ages.

Le Vaulmier

The Mars valley, formerly extremely isolated, is now open to the Maronne, Jordanne, Santoire and Rhue valleys. The Vaulmier village is irrigated by the Mars river and by a few swift flowing brooks that surge into waterfalls on the sides of the valley.
